What is Agniveer Vayu Scheme?
Agniveer Vayu is a scheme that offers a short-term service of four years in the Indian Air Force to candidates who have passed 8th, 10th or 12th class from any recognized board. The scheme is open for both male and female candidates who are unmarried and meet the age and physical criteria.
The Agniveer Vayu scheme is different from the regular recruitment process of the air force, as it does not require any written examination or interview. The candidates are selected based on their marks in the qualifying examination and their performance in the online test conducted by the air force.
The online test consists of multiple-choice questions on general awareness, reasoning, numerical ability and English language. The candidates have to score at least 50% marks in each subject and 50% marks in aggregate to qualify for the next stage.
The next stage is the physical fitness test, which includes a 1.6 km run, sit-ups, push-ups and squats. The candidates have to complete the run within a specified time limit and perform the minimum number of repetitions for each exercise.
The final stage is the medical examination, which checks the candidates’ height, weight, chest, vision and other health parameters. The candidates have to be medically fit as per the standards prescribed by the air force.
The candidates who clear all these stages are enrolled as Agniveers in the Indian Air Force and undergo a training period of 10 weeks to 6 months depending on their trade. The training includes basic military training, trade-specific training and on-the-job training.
What are the Posts Available under Agniveer Vayu Scheme?
The Agniveer Vayu scheme offers a variety of posts for different trades in the air force. The posts are divided into two categories: science subjects and other than science subjects. The candidates can apply for any post according to their qualification and interest.
The posts available under science subjects are:
- Fitter: Responsible for maintaining and repairing various aircraft systems and components.
- Carpenter: Responsible for fabricating and repairing wooden structures and furniture.
- Welder: Responsible for welding metal parts and structures using electric or gas welding equipment.

Indian Airforce Agniveer Recruitment 2023: Eligibility Criteria
Before applying for the Indian Airforce Agniveer Recruitment 2023, candidates must ensure that they fulfill the eligibility criteria as per the notification. The eligibility criteria include the following aspects:
- Nationality: Candidates must be citizens of India.
- Age Limit: Candidates must be between 18 and 25 years of age as on 1st January 2024. Age relaxation is applicable for reserved categories as per government rules.
- Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed 8th, 10th or 12th class from any recognized board with at least 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in each subject. Candidates must also have a valid ITI certificate in the relevant trade from any recognized institute.

Indian Airforce Agniveer Recruitment 2023: Salary and Benefits
The candidates who are selected as Agniveers in the Indian Air Force will receive a handsome salary and various benefits during their service period. The salary and benefits include the following:
- Basic Pay: The basic pay for Agniveers is Rs. 21,700 per month.
- Grade Pay: The grade pay for Agniveers is Rs. 2,400 per month.
- Military Service Pay: The military service pay for Agniveers is Rs. 5,200 per month.
- Dearness Allowance: The dearness allowance for Agniveers is calculated as a percentage of the basic pay and grade pay and is revised periodically as per the government norms.

Indian Airforce Agniveer Recruitment 2023: Selection Process
The selection process for the Indian Airforce Agniveer Recruitment 2023 consists of three stages:
- Online Test
- Physical Fitness Test
- Medical Examination
Online Test
The online test is the first stage of the selection process and is conducted by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC). The online test consists of multiple-choice questions on general awareness, reasoning, numerical ability and English language. The online test is divided into two parts:
Part A: This part contains questions on general awareness, reasoning and numerical ability. There are a total of 50 questions in this part and each question carries one mark. There is no negative marking in this part.
Part B: This part contains questions on English language. There are a total of 25 questions in this part and each question carries one mark. There is no negative marking in this part.
The duration of the online test is one hour and the candidates have to score at least 50% marks in each subject and 50% marks in aggregate to qualify for the next stage. The online test is conducted in English and Hindi languages.
The candidates can download their admit cards for the online test from the official website of the air force. The admit cards contain the details of the exam centre, date and time of the exam. The candidates have to carry their admit cards along with a valid photo identity proof to the exam centre.
Physical Fitness Test
The physical fitness test is the second stage of the selection process and is conducted by the air force at various designated venues. The physical fitness test includes a 1.6 km run, sit-ups, push-ups and squats. The candidates have to complete the run within a specified time limit and perform the minimum number of repetitions for each exercise.

The medical examination checks the candidates’ height, weight, chest, vision and other health parameters. The candidates have to be medically fit as per the standards prescribed by the air force.

Indian Airforce Agniveer Recruitment 2023: Training
The candidates who are selected as Agniveers in the Indian Air Force have to undergo a training period of 10 weeks to 6 months depending on their trade. The training includes basic military training, trade-specific training and on-the-job training.
The basic military training is conducted at Belagavi in Karnataka and imparts basic knowledge and skills of military discipline, drill, weapon handling, physical fitness, first aid, etc.
The trade-specific training is conducted at various technical training institutes (TTIs) across India and imparts technical knowledge and skills related to the respective trade.
The on-the-job training is conducted at various operational units of the air force and provides practical exposure and experience of working in real-life situations.
The candidates who successfully complete their training are awarded certificates and badges by the air force. They are also assigned ranks and posted to various units of the air force according to their trade and merit.
