Bal Sangopan Scheme: Scope Likely to Expand

Bal Sangopan Scheme was started in 2008. Under the scheme, financial aid is provided to support children’s education. Every month, an amount of Rs. 1125 is disbursed as a financial aid. Children who became orphaned during the COVID-19 period will receive the financial aid. If any parent died during the pandemic and the other parent is not an earning member, the child can get his/her name registered under the scheme. The government has been suggested to expand the scope of this scheme. Financial aid is likely to be increased from Rs. 1125 to Rs. 2500. In addition, children will be provided free education as well.

Proposal to Deposit Rs. 5, 00, 00 in Children’s Accounts

The Maharashtra Chief Minister has instructed the officials of the Women and Children Development Department to prepare a detailed policy for the upbringing of the children who lost their parents during the COVID-19 pandemic. A meeting was organized by the Maharashtra chief minister for detailed reviews. In the meeting, the participants discussed about the orphaned children. According to sources, a proposal was made to deposit an amount of Rs. 5, 00, 00 to the orphaned children’s accounts.

The Maharashtra Chief Minister has given necessary instructions to the Women and Child Development Department to provide information about the additional expenditure in addition to the yearly expenditure on the existing Bal Sangopan Scheme so that decisions can be taken about effective implementation.

The main objective of the Maharashtra Bal Sangopan Scheme is to provide financial assistance to the parents who are unable to support their children’s education due to some reasons. Under the scheme, the children from the State of Maharashtra will not have to face any kind of difficulty to continue with their education. The Bal Sangopan Scheme will help in the development of the state and reduce the rate of unemployment as well.
