CLAT Exam

The exam is expected to be conducted on 18th December (tentatively) by NLUs. Every year, 22 National Law Universities participate in CLAT for admissions to undergraduate programs through CLAT UG. The exam will take place in offline mode. The main focus of the exam is on understanding and reasoning skills.

Candidates can take the CLAT UG/PG exam as they desire as there is no time constraint for taking the CLAT exam.

CLAT Eligibility Criteria: Qualification

Candidates can understand the rules and guidelines of the CLAT exam in the given respects:

UG Programmes

  • Candidates must have secured 45% marks belonging to the General/OBC/Specially-abled Persons(SAP) category.

  • Candidates in the SC/ST category are required to secure 40% marks.

  • There is no age limit for the ug candidates appearing in CLAT 2025

PG Programmes

  • A minimum of 50% marks are required for the candidates belonging to the  General/OBC/SAP categories.

  • 45% marks are required to be secured by candidates in the reserved category.

Final Year Students

The final year students must clear any confusion about their eligibility for the CLAT 2025 exam. Below are some points that candidates must keep in notice:

  • Candidates must provide proof of passing the qualifying examination at the time of admission.

  • Candidates must submit the passing marksheet/ certificates with the required marks for admissions.

  • Failure to submit the mark sheets and certificates will result in forfeiting their right to admission.

CLAT Eligibility Criteria: International Students

The candidates applying through NRI, NRI Sponsored, Foreign National Category should contact their university authority regarding required documents and other questions related to the NRI Quota.

  • The candidates applying for the NRI category must appear for those NLUs that require this exam as an admission requirement to the respective category. 

  • The CLAT authority will be in charge of shortlisting candidates, as per the official CLAT Eligibility criteria updates.

Documents required For International Students

The documents below are compulsory to be submitted by the NRI Candidates for admission to the desired university.

  • Copy of a valid Indian passport for the student.

  • Copy of visas obtained within the last 12 months.

  • Certificate from the local embassy stating that the person is an NRI/OCI or PIO Card

CLAT Age Criteria

There is no upper age limit for admission in the Undergraduate (UG) program of the Common Law Admission Test. The officials have not set any upper age limit for the postgraduate program. Candidates of any age may study law in India under the rules and regulations of the Supreme Court of India.

CLAT Eligibility Criteria: Application Form

The application forms will be out once the admission notification is released. The below guidelines can be followed while filling out the application form:

  • Create a CLAT login to access CLAT Application Form. To register, candidates must provide details like –name, email id, contact number, and password.

  • After registration, fill in the application form. Candidates must upload their passport size photograph, signature, personal information, communication details, and educational qualifications.

  • Select the NLUs based on your preference and the three preferred exam centres.

  • Candidate must provide their reservation details and submit their CLAT Application Form.

  • After submitting the application form, make payment online via Credit/ debit/ UPI or Net Banking and submit the registration fees.

CLAT Score Tie-Breaker

The following procedure and order are used by NLUs to break the score tie between the candidates: 

UG Score Tie-breaker

In the event of a tie, the following procedure and order are followed:

  • Candidates with higher grades in legal reasoning will receive a higher ranking in the selection process.

  • Candidates of older age will be given preference after the second tie.

  • Computerized lotteries will be used if the tie cant be broken.

PG Score Tie-breaker

In the event of a tie in PG CLAT 2024, the following procedure and sequence will be used to break the tie:

  • Older age

  • Computerized drawings
