- Farmers and cattle owners bring their cow dung to the nearest gauthan and sell it at Rs. 2 per kg. They receive payment through direct bank transfer within 24 hours.
- The cow dung is collected and stored in pits or heaps in the gauthan. It is then converted into vermicompost or other products such as biogas, biopesticides, phenyl etc. by using various techniques such as vermicomposting, anaerobic digestion etc.
- The vermicompost or other products are packed and branded under the name of Godhan Ark or Godhan Amrit. They are then sold to farmers or other customers at Rs. 8 per kg or as per market rates.
- The revenue generated from the sale of vermicompost or other products is shared among the gauthan committee, the women self-help group and the state government in the ratio of 40:40:20.
What are the achievements of Godhan Nyay Yojana?
The Godhan Nyay Yojana has been a huge success since its launch in July 2020. Some of the achievements of this scheme are:
- More than 5 lakh metric tonnes of cow dung have been procured from more than 3 lakh farmers and cattle owners under this scheme till date.
- More than Rs. 100 crore have been paid to farmers and cattle owners for their cow dung till date.
- More than 2 lakh metric tonnes of vermicompost have been produced from cow dung till date.
- More than Rs. 50 crore have been earned from the sale of vermicompost till date.
- More than 5,000 gauthans have been established across the state under this scheme till date.
- More than 10 lakh cows have been sheltered in the gauthans under this scheme till date.
- More than 2 lakh women and youth have been employed in the gauthans under this scheme till date.
