Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Sri Bhupesh Baghel is taking various steps to provide employment to men, women and youth in rural areas in his state. Now the chief minister has taken another major step by launching the Mahatma Gandhi Rural Industrial Park Scheme. Once the park is completely developed, it will create huge employment and generate income for the poor families living in rural areas of Chhattisgarh. Therefore, one of the key objectives of the scheme is to provide better employment opportunities to the citizens of rural areas of the state. Under this scheme, selected Gauthans in rural areas are being developed as Rural Industrial Park RIPA i.e. centres of livelihood, for which, different livelihood-related activities are being conducted in these parks.

Mahatma Gandhi Rural Industrial Park Scheme 2023

On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti (celebrated nationwide on 2nd October) in the last year, honourable chief minister of Chhattisgarh Sri Bhupesh Baghel ji has introduced the Mahatma Gandhi Rural Industrial Park Scheme via video conferencing from his residence. In the first phase of the scheme, Bhumi Pujan and foundation stone laying ceremony took place in 300 rural industrial parks across different districts of the state.

Let us inform you that only the selected Gauthans in rural areas of the state are being developed into Rural Industrial Parks. In the first phase of the scheme, 2 Gauthans in each development block are being developed into Rural Industrial Park.

Panchayat and Rural Development Department has been made the nodal department of this scheme. The scheme is supposed to provide employment to a large number of youth and women of self-help groups in the rural areas and generate a huge income for them. As a result, it will contribute to the development of the citizens as well as overall development of the state.

Mahatma Gandhi Rural Industrial Park Scheme: Objectives

The main objective of Mahatma Gandhi Rural Industrial Park Scheme is to create employment opportunities by developing Rural Industrial Park in rural areas of Chhattisgarh. It will improve the conditions of both women and youths in rural areas of the state by generating huge income.

While launching the Mahatma Gandhi Rural Industrial Park Scheme, the chief minister of the state has said, “This scheme will meet Mahatma Gandhi’s dream of a self-dependent village. Our government is working towards translating Bapuji’s dream by implementing that kind of village format.”

With the scheme, the rural areas of the state will be self-sufficient. This way, the villages will become strong. Under the Mahatma Gandhi Rural Industrial Park Scheme, the established Gauthans in villages will be developed as the centres of livelihood (Rural Industrial Park).

Under the scheme, Gauthans in Suraji village have been transformed into Rural Industrial Park, wherein units for poultry farming, manufacturing of vermicompost, goat rearing, processing of agricultural and horticultural crops and minor forest produce are being established. In addition, pulse mill, flour mill and oil mill are also being established.

Ø  Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Sri Bhupesh Baghel has launched Mahatma Gandhi Rural Industrial Park Scheme to generate employment opportunities in rural areas of his state.

Ø  The chief minister has launched the scheme through virtual medium from his residence on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti on 2nd October, 2022.

Ø  Under the scheme, selected Gauthans in rural areas will be turned into Rural Industrial Park by the government.

Ø  In the first phase of scheme implementation, 300 industrial parks will be developed. Two industrial parks will be built in each development block of the state.

Ø  Panchayat and Rural Development Department will be the nodal department of the scheme.

Ø  The state government has already made a provision of Rs 600 crore for the Mahatma Gandhi Rural Industrial Park Scheme.

Ø  An amount of Rs 1 crore will be provided to each approved Rural Industrial Park. With this amount, development work will be done to provide working shed, electricity, water, road as well as training to youth in the parks.

Ø  Poor women, men and youth living in rural areas in the state of Chhattisgarh will get benefits through this scheme.

Ø  Sri Bhupesh Baghel, the honourable chief minister of Chhattisgarh, says that this scheme will fulfil Mahatma Gandhi’s dream of making villages self-reliant.

Ø  In the selected parks of rural areas, which will be developed under the scheme, multiple business activities like goat farming, poultry farming, flour mills, oil mill, pulse mill, minor forest produce and processing units of agricultural and horticultural crops will be established.

Ø  Mahatma Gandhi Rural Industrial Park Scheme will directly benefit the development of Chhattisgarh.

Ø  Through this scheme, employment opportunities will be generated in rural areas of Chhattisgarh and reduce the burden of unemployment in the state.

Ø  The villages of Chhattisgarh will become self-dependent through this scheme. The self-dependent villages will play an important role in ensuring overall development of the state.

Mahatma Gandhi Rural Industrial Park Scheme: Eligibility Criteria

Ø  The applicant must be a permanent citizen of Chhattisgarh.

Ø  Only poor unemployed citizens from rural areas are eligible to apply under this scheme.

Ø  The applicant must be 18 years of age or older at the time of application.
