Madhya Pradesh Maternity Assistance Scheme was started by the Madhya Pradesh Government on 1st April, 2018 to provide financial assistance to pregnant women of labour families of the state. Under this Maternity Assistance Scheme 2023, the government will provide financial assistance of Rs 16, 000 to every pregnant women from working class living below the poverty line in Madhya Pradesh with an objective to help these families financially during pregnancy of their women so that they can lead them a good quality of life.

Under this Madhya Pradesh Maternity Assistance Scheme, 50% of salary will be provided as benefits to pregnant women from labour classes in the last 3 months of pregnancy. After this, an amount of Rs 1000 will be provided to the women workers after their delivery so that they can meet the medical expenses incurred during delivery. In addition, Madhya Pradesh Government is also providing paternity and delivery benefits of 15 days to the husband of the pregnant worker who will take advantage of this maternity scheme.
Under this scheme, the Madhya Pradesh State Government will provide financial assistance of Rs 16000 to the pregnant women from BPL families.

Madhya Pradesh Maternity Assistance Scheme 2023: Objectives
Pregnant women, who are working in unorganized sectors and living below the poverty line, are not able to work during pregnancy. During this period, they don’t get any wages as the employers in these sectors follow “no work, no play” rule. As a result, pregnant women from labour families do not get proper food, which is extremely important for the health of the expecting mother and her unborn baby as well.
Due to lack of money, these women cannot meet other specific needs related to their health during pregnancy. Considering all these problems, the Madhya Pradesh State Government has launched Madhya Pradesh Maternity Assistance Scheme 2023. Under this scheme, the Government of Madhya Pradesh will provide financial assistance of Rs 16000 to pregnant women of labour class families.
Through this Madhya Pradesh Maternity Assistance Scheme, pregnant women from labour class families will be able to meet their financial needs in times of their pregnancy.
Madhya Pradesh Maternity Assistance Scheme: Benefits
Ø All the pregnant women from labour class families of Madhya Pradesh will be able to get the benefits of this scheme.
Ø Under the Maternity Safety Scheme (Janani Suraksha Yojana) launched by the Madhya Pradesh State Government, eligible women can avail the benefits of the Madhya Pradesh Maternity Assistance Scheme.
Ø Under this scheme, on the first pregnancy, the eligible women will receive Rs 3000 as the first and second instalment through the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana and the remaining amount of Rs 1000 will be provided to the beneficiary women by the Chief Minister. Labour service will be provided through Chief Minister Sharmik Seva Prasuti Shayata Yojna
Ø The benefit of “Madhya Pradesh Maternity Assistance Scheme” will be provided to pregnant women, who are above 18 years of age, and registered female workers in unorganized sectors.
Ø Under Madhya Pradesh Maternity Assistance Scheme 2023, pregnant women will receive full financial assistance of Rs 16000 by the state government.
Ø The applicant must have a bank account and the bank account must be linked to the beneficiary’s Aadhaar Card.
Ø Labour women working in unorganized sectors in both rural and urban areas of Madhya Pradesh will be eligible to avail the benefits of this scheme.

Madhya Pradesh Maternity Assistance Scheme 2023: How to Apply
Ø Pregnant women, who are interested in availing the benefits of Madhya Pradesh Maternity Assistance, can apply by visiting the nearest Public Health Centre and Family Welfare Department.
Ø The eligible woman will have to visit there and get the application form. Next, you will have to fill out the form with the required details including the applicant’s name, address, Aadhaar number, date of pregnancy etc.
Ø After filling up the application form, she will have to attach all the required documents with the application form and submit it where the applicant received the form.
Ø To make payment, the beneficiary will have to submit only the copy of the Maternity and Child Protection Card filled and attested by ANM/Doctor as well as present the documents mentioned earlier.
Ø The applicant will have to apply 6 weeks before the date of delivery. If for some reason, the application is not made on time, the person can apply before her delivery or immediately after delivery.
