At the annual Dreamforce event in San Francisco, Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff declared that we are entering an “Indian era,” emphasizing India’s increasing influence on the global stage. He expressed optimism about India’s potential, stating, “There is no denying that India is about to enter a truly remarkable period. It’s a really exciting opportunity.”
Benioff highlighted Salesforce’s robust growth in India, where the company now employs over 11,000 people. He pointed to the significance of Indian operations in engineering and market engagement, citing major clients like the Bajaj Group. He praised Arundhati Bhattacharya, the former Chairperson of SBI and current head of Salesforce India, for her leadership in driving this growth. While specific plans for workforce expansion were not disclosed, Benioff stressed India’s crucial role in Salesforce’s future strategy.
Salesforce also introduced its partner network, featuring collaborations with AWS, Google, IBM, and Workday, alongside the launch of “Agentforce,” an innovative AI tool designed to streamline business processes. This initiative, developed in partnership with NVIDIA, aims to deliver advanced autonomous AI agents for enterprise applications. Benioff predicted that these advancements would transform sales, marketing, and commerce, moving beyond traditional chatbot capabilities.
Addressing concerns about AI-related job displacement, he remarked, “There’s a way to transition the workforce to these new opportunities, and some companies have already done it.”
To further its reach and connect with the Indian market, Salesforce has appointed cricket legend Rahul Dravid as its first brand ambassador. Dravid will help Indian businesses utilize the Salesforce CRM platform to drive growth. This initiative is part of the “Growing With India” campaign, which showcases Salesforce’s comprehensive, user-friendly CRM solution aimed at elevating Indian businesses.
