The objective is to give students work exposure before they enter the corporate world. Internships help students gain knowledge and confidence. Recently, the GOI has initiated a Digital India Internship Scheme. Students are provided internship opportunities through this scheme.

Digital India Internship Scheme 2023

The Digital India Internship Scheme has been initiated by the Ministry of Electronic and Information Technology. Through this scheme, government will provide internships to students so that they get practical exposure before stepping into the corporate world. The internship, offered in different sectors, is meant to help students acquire knowledge and hands-on experience.

The minimum duration of this internship program is 2 months. An extension is possible, which will make the internship a 3-months program. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology holds the right to formulate, implement and review the scheme. All the students in India can make the most of the scheme.

Around 50 slots will be made available annually for an internship in New Delhi. The respective organization will select the eligible interns through in-person or Skype interviews. The list of the shortlisted candidates will be released on the portal. To apply under the Digital India Internship Scheme 2023, a student must secure at least 60% marks in the last certificate and degree examination in his/her educational career.

The key objective of Digital India Internship Scheme 2023 is to offer internships to the students of India in order to arm them with practical knowledge before they walk into the corporate world. Digital India Internship Scheme: Features and Benefits

Ø  The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has introduced Digital India Internship Scheme.

Ø  Under this scheme, students will be offered internship so that they can get practical knowledge and training before entering the corporate sector.

Ø  Internship will be offered in different sectors through this scheme.

Ø  The internship scheme will help students acquire practical knowledge and experience which will improve their skill.

Ø  The minimum duration of the internship will be 2 months. However, the internship program can be extended to a maximum duration of 3 months.

Ø  The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology holds the right to formulate, implement and review the scheme.

Ø  Every year, a maximum number of 50 slots will be offered through the scheme.

Digital India Internship Scheme: Selection of Interns

Ø  The respective group/division/organization will be responsible for selection and shortlisting of the candidate for the concerned domain.

Ø  Candidates will be selected through personal or Skype interview.

Ø  Candidates will not have to pay any TA or DA to attend personal interviews.

Ø  List of shortlisted candidates will be released on the official web portal.

Digital India Internship Scheme: Code of Conduct for Interns

Ø  The interns must conform to the rules and regulations which are also followed by all the employees of the ministry.

Ø  The interns are required to maintain confidentiality protocol of the ministry.

Ø  Sponsoring institutions and sponsored students will not have any claims over the result of the internship project work.

Ø  The ministry have all the intellectual property rights in designs, patterns, publication, software etc generated during the internship program.

Ø  The intern must seek permission from the ministry if he/she wants to present his/her work at a conference/seminar or the academic bodies.

Ø  All the interns must follow the advice of the ministry regarding any representation to the third parties.

Ø  The intern is not allowed to interact with third parties or represent the ministry to third parties.

Ø  Based on the roles and responsibilities, some interns can be allowed to interact with third parties on behalf of the ministry.

Ø  Interns are not authorized to represent the ministry to the media.

Ø  Interns must maintain professional relationship with the public in general and specially with the ministry.

Ø  The intern must present at the ministry premises from 9 A. M. to 5:30 P.M. unless otherwise allowed.

Ø  Interns must make their own accommodation arrangement during the internship.

Ø  The library facility of the ministry is restricted to only referencing.

Ø  Interns are not allowed to borrow books. However, they are allowed to take Xerox copies from the library after paying necessary charges.

Ø  If any intern’s performance is found unsatisfactory, the ministry can advise him/her to discontinue the project work before the internship ends.

Digital India Internship Scheme: Submission of Paper

Ø  The interns must stick to the work plans and schedules formulated by mentors or supervisors.

Ø  The interns must submit a report of the work that he/she has done during the internship program. The project work is to be submitted to the ministry.

Ø  The project report prepared by the intern should be same in all aspects with the report submitted to the sponsoring institution, in which, the intern, in question, is enrolled.

Ø  A student must submit a “No Demand” certificate to the ministry after he/she completes internship along with a soft and a hard copy of the project report.

Ø  The certificate must be attached to the project report and should have the cover page. All the certificates included in the project report should reflect the fact that the project report was done at the ministry.

Ø  The acknowledgement sheet of the project should contain the name of the mentor or supervisor.

Digital India Internship Scheme: Token Remuneration

Ø  The intern will receive a token remuneration of Rs 10000 per month, provided his/her performance is satisfactory.

Ø  The amount of remuneration will be given only after the student completes the internship and submits his/her project report.

Ø  The remuneration is paid after the report is duly accepted by the ministry.

Ø  The ministry will issue a certificate to the interns after internship is complete and project report is submitted.

Digital India Internship Scheme: Termination

Ø  The ministry holds the right to terminate any intern’s services if the intern’s services are no long required.

Ø  The ministry can also exercise its power to terminate an intern’s services anytime with immediate effect and without showing any cause.

 

Ø  If the intern intends to terminate his/her services, he/she has to give a prior notice of 2 weeks. After termination of internship, the intern must handover all kinds of papers, assets and equipment, which were provided to him/her during internship, to the ministry.

 

Ø  After termination of internship, if any intern claims that he/she is still working for the ministry, the ministry is entitled to take appropriate legal action against the intern.

Digital India Internship Scheme: Eligibility Criteria

Ø  The applicant must be a permanent resident of India.

Ø  The applicant must be studying in a recognized university of India.

Ø  The applicant must secure at least 60% marks in the last conducted degree or certificate examination and must be pursuing BE/B.Tech.

Ø  Candidates studying M.E/M.Tech/M.Sc(Electrinics)/MCA/DoEACC ‘B’ Level/LLB are also eligible for the internship program under this scheme.

Ø  Students, who are in the last semester or passed out in summer 2021, will not be considered eligible for this internship scheme.

Ø  LLB students will be eligible for internship in IT act area/cyber law.

Ø  Having the minimum qualification as stated above is not a guarantee of being shortlisted for internship.

Ø  Candidates, who already have exposure in the areas of intended internship, higher qualification and good academic record, will be given preference.
