Google’s car crash detection feature, once available only in the United States, is now in India, along with Austria, Belgium, Portugal, and Switzerland. You need a Pixel 4a or a newer model with an active SIM card to use it. It’s not available in Indian languages yet.

2. Tap “Features.”
3. Scroll down and find “Car crash detection.”
4. Follow the setup instructions provided.
5. Make sure to give permission for location, physical activity, and microphone access for the feature to work properly.

How Google Pixel Car Crash Feature Works

The Google Pixel Car Crash feature is designed to spot serious car accidents involving Pixel phone users. Here’s how it works:

• Automatic Emergency Alerts: If there’s a severe car accident, the feature automatically sends alerts to emergency services and shares the user’s location.
• Smart Sensors: The feature uses data from the phone’s location, motion sensors, and nearby sounds to detect car crashes. This works on Pixel 4a and newer models, like the Pixel Fold.
• User Confirmation: When a crash is detected, the Pixel phone will vibrate, make a loud noise, and ask the user if they need help.
• Emergency Contact: If the user confirms they need assistance or doesn’t respond, the phone will call 112, India’s universal emergency services number. It will provide the authorities with the location and details of the crash.
