How to String Jasmine Flowers: A Simple Guide to Creating Gorgeous Gar

Stringing jasmine flowers is one very rewarding craft that brings this fascinating fragrance of a beautiful flower into the confines of your house. Whether in decorating for a special occasion, celebration, or merely to revel in the calming essence of jasmine, making your garland can be a valuable exercise. Here is a simple guide to help string your very own jasmine flower garland.

What you need:

Fresh jasmine flowers; preferably pesticide-free

Strong thread or fishline

Needle; as thin and sharp as possible

Scissors

Optional: Add decorative elements such as leaves, beads, or other flowers

Steps:

Select Your Jasmine: Choose fresh, fragrant jasmine flowers. Choose blooms that are fully opened and look at the brightness. The more fragrant, the better!

Prepare the Thread: You’ll need a thread or fishing line. I made mine about 2-3 feet long, depending on how long you want your garland to be. Double up the thread and then create a knot at one end,  leaving a loop for hanging.

Work the Needle: Attach the other end of the string to your needle. In case you’re using a fishing line, dampen the end of the fishing line, which will help it smoothly glide through the eye of the needle.

String the Flowers: Carefully push the needle through the base of the jasmine flowers, just above that calyx  (green piece at the bottom of the flower). Push the flower down the thread with some care allowing sufficient space between each bloom so you have some flexibility.

Add Additional Ornamentation: You can add a little more depth to the garland by interspersing the jasmine flowers with decorative leaves, beads, or other flowers.

 Finish Your Garland: Once you’ve reached the number of flowers desired on your garland, tie a secure knot at the end of your thread. Leave sufficient extra length for hanging.

Display and Enjoy: Hang your jasmine garland in a sacred space or offer it. The fragrance will fill your space with serenity.
