India vs Pakistan Duel Likely to Be Rescheduled

India vs Pakistan is the most rousing match in the world of cricket. Though the political rivalry between these two counties has made their duel in any game nail-biting, still cricket takes the tension to an insane level. And now these two counties are to face each other in the upcoming ICC World Cup.

Why Rescheduling?

The iconic clash, according to the original schedule, is to take place in Ahmedabad on October 15. The complete schedule of the ODI World Cup was announced the last month by ICC. However, as per Indian Express, the authority could change the date for the Titanic clash in the 2023 tournament. The source has dropped a hint that the date of the India-Pakistan match could be rescheduled as October 15 marks starting of ‘Navratri’, a nine-day festival celebrated with pomposity and iconic night-long Garba Dance, particularly in Gujrat.
According to the report, security agencies have requested BCCI to reschedule the match as there might be security concerns. BCCI says they will consider alternate options when admitting to being informed by the agencies. They will reportedly take a decision soon.

“We have been told by the security agencies that a high-profile game like India vs Pakistan, for which thousands of travelling fans are expected to reach Ahmedabad, should be avoided since they will be stretched because of Navratri,” a source told the Indian Express.

If the match is rescheduled, it may cause a massive logistical nightmare as many fans have already made their travel plans to watch the high-profile match in person. Local media has also reported that many NRIs have enquired about the availability of beds in Ahmedabad hospitals before and after the iconic clash.

Rescheduling Could Be a Problem?

Hence, rescheduling the match will lead to mass cancellations of hotel bookings. The opening match of the tournament is to take place between England and New Zealand in Ahmedabad. However, there are still no reports of ticket sales, which has added to fans’ frustrations. With a high possibility of the biggest game in the group match being rescheduled, BCCI might face outrage from fans active on social media.

The report by Indian Express has also said that Jay Shah, the honourable secretary of BCCI, has asked members of all hosting cities to attend tomorrow’s meeting in New Delhi where the committee might take a decision regarding the India-Pakistan match.

“I feel it will be in the best interest of all concerned that we meet again to exchange notes and take stock of any issue which needs discussion and decision. Accordingly, you are hereby requested to attend a meeting of the World Cup hosting associations,” the letter read.

The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will host four group matches in the World Cup and also the grand finale of the tournament on November 19.
