Kedarkantha Trek is a beautiful trek in the lap of nature, offering 360-degree panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and beautiful sunrise views. Most popular during winters, when the trail is completely covered with fresh snow, the trek is a breathtaking experience for the trekkers, as it feels like walking on the stairs to heaven. Located in the Uttarkashi district of the state of Uttarakhand, the trek starts from the quaint village Sankri and passes through beautiful dense deodar forests, the alpine lake of Juda ka Talab, and several small streams. It takes about 4 to 5 days to complete this trekking route, covering a distance of about 20 km and accessible throughout the year, except during the monsoon season due to heavy rain and landslides. Reaching a maximum height of about 12,500 ft, the trail offers a moderate level of challenge, making it suitable for both beginners and experienced trekkers. This beautiful trail after a little bit of tough climb, offers trekkers a breath taking view of some of the amazing mountains and ranges of Garhwal Himalayas including Swargarohini, Black Peak, Mt Bandarpunch, Ranglana, Gangotri and Yamunotri ranges.

This trekking route map to Kedarkantha Peak also gives trekkers an opportunity to spend some time at a spiritual place which is believed to be the meditation place of Lord Shiva and hence the peak is named “Throat of Shiva” (Kedar Kantha).
