PM Modi to Inaugurate Development Project in Telangana

Modi is currently on his 2-day whirlwind tour of 4 states. Yesterday, he flagged off two Vande Bharat Express trains in Uttar Pradesh. He is to launch a development project in Telangana today.

The PM reached UP on Friday. In addition to unveiling two Vande Bharat Express trains, he also addressed two major public rallies in Varanasi and Gorakhpur. He also laid the foundations of eight projects estimated to be worth Rs, 7, 600 croes in Chhattisgarh.

The PM spent last night in Varanasi. Mr. Modi contested the 2019 Loksabha election from two constituencies and Varanasi is one of them.

PM Tweets

The PM also tweeted about the upcoming program in Telangana by saying, “Leaving for Warangal (Telangana) to attend a program where we will inaugurate or lay the foundation stone for development works worth over Rs 6,100 crore. These works cover different sectors ranging from highways to railways. They will benefit the people of Telangana.”

Allegations against UPA

The BJP’s Telangana unit has said the PM will also inaugurate projects and lay their foundations. The upcoming projects are believed to cost more than Rs. 2, 500 core.

Yesterday, he claimed in a public rally in Varanasi that the centre’s welfare schemes had benefitted a large number of people and also served as a testimony to his government’s focus on “real secularism” and social justice. He also alleged the previous UPA government for doing nothing and preparing schemes when “sitting in air-conditioned rooms”.

According to Mr. Modi, the previous government’s schemes benefitted only a few and they were not concerned about the grass-root people.

He claimed to guarantee “self-respect for the poor”. Varanasi was the second stop, only next to Gorakhpur, during his visit to Uttar Pradesh.

He addressed the concluding ceremony of Gita Press in Gorakhpur. Gita Press publishes Hindu religious textbooks and in this field, is the largest publisher in the world.

When addressing the Gorakhpur rally, he talked at length about how to combine India’s royal heritage with the country’s development. However, he highlighted only the welfare schemes in Varanasi. He launched development projects at both places. The estimated cost for the 29 new projects in Varanasi is worth Rs. 12, 100 crore.

Tiffin Meeting

Modi had a “tiffin meeting” with BJP leaders and workers in Varanasi. The PM encouraged them to make sure that BJP retains the power with a thumping margin in the next year’s Loksabha election.

Apart from UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath, about 120 people, including BJP workers, office bearers and public representatives attended the meeting.

According to sources, PM Modi asked the councilors to stay connected to people and continuously work for them. During his meeting with the party workers, Mr Modi also enquired about their health and wellbeing.

Though the BJP workers and leaders brought their own tiffin, the kitchen of Bareka Guest House was used to prepare food for Modi.
