Climbing Pisang Peak in Nepal is an excursion that offers stunning views and a sense of accomplishment unlike any other. However, this experience comes with a series of risks, which every climber should be aware of before embarking on the expedition. The risks are not only physical, but also emotional and mental.

The Physical Demands

Pisang Peak stands at an impressive 6,091 meters, making it a challenging climb. The altitude alone poses a serious risk. I remember the first time I attempted a climb at a high altitude; the thin air made breathing difficult, and every step felt like a monumental effort. Altitude sickness is a very real danger, and it can hit even the most experienced climbers. Symptoms like headaches, nausea, and dizziness can strike suddenly, forcing you to descend before reaching the summit.
