Uttar Pradesh Government has introduced One District One Product Scheme 2023. The scheme is expected to generate 25 lakh job opportunities across the state. The primary goal of this scheme is to focus on a specific product and improve its quality so that it can compete with the similar types of products in the international market. Ø The ODOP scheme will promote inclusive development of Uttar Pradesh.

Ø The main objective of One District One Product Scheme is to expand the traditional industries that are synonymous with the respective districts of the state by setting up specific traditional product related industrial centres in 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh.
Ø Under the scheme, around 25 unemployed youths of the state will get jobs.
Ø The scheme is supposed to increase the GDP of Uttar Pradesh by 2 per cent.

UP One District One Product Scheme 2023: Incentives to SC / ST, Minority & Poor Entrepreneurs to Promote MSMEs
Under the ODOP scheme, the UP government will provide incentives to the poor entrepreneurs as well as the entrepreneurs belonging to SC/ST, and minority communities. The successful implementation of the scheme will promote small, medium and micro enterprises by nurturing the traditional industries. The state government will provide margin money / subsidy on project cost to new business entities that are owned by recognized weaker sections of the society. A list has been given below to give readers a fair idea.
Ø Projects costing upto Rs. 2.5 million will receive Rs. 6,25,000 or 25% subsidy (whichever is lower) from the state government.
Ø If Project cost is anything between Rs. 2.5 million and Rs. 5 million, Rs. 6,25,000 or 20% (whichever is higher) will be provided as subsidy.
Ø Firstly, the UP govt. will provide this subsidy as margin money from commercial banks. Later, the subsidy amount will get converted to grant after the enterprise is successfully run for 2 years.
Ø Projects costing from Rs 5 million to Rs 1.5 billion will get margin money up to 1 million or 15% (whichever is lower).
Ø In case, the project cost spills beyond 1.5 billion, the UP government would offer grant / margin money of Rs 2 million or 10% (whichever is lower).
Ø General category enterprisers are obliged to contribute 10% of the total project cost through their own resources. However, this mandate has been reduced to 5% for SC / ST / OBC / Minorities / Women and Physically Disabled People.
